Jacob Sosdian Staff Writer This weekend quite a few movies were playing in theaters and we are here to talk about which was the top five films at the box office. The number one highest box office this weekend was The Magnificent Seven with $35 million worth of movie tickets. The Magnificent Seven was a remake of the 1960s film which is, in my opinion, a classic western movie many people should watch before seeing the new one. It is about a large group of thieves who raid from a village once in a while and one of the villagers asks for help. Seven very different gunmen come and try to stop the thieves. Starring our magnificent seven heroes, Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’ Onofrio, Byung GarciaRulfo, and Martin Sensmeier. So if you are interested in seeing this action western movie, come see it in theaters while you can. Our number two in the box office this weekend is Storks, earning $21.8 million. Storks is a family cartoon film about storks delivering babies to packages. But when an order for a baby appears, the best delivery stork must scramble to fix the error by delivering the baby. Storks is starring Andy Samberg, Jennifer Aniston, Key, and Peele. This is a fun movie to see with family if you enjoy kid movies.
Number three in the box office this weekend is Sully, Selling $13.5 million worth of tickets. Sully is based on a true story about Chelsey Sullenberger who became a hero after landing his plane in the Hudson River saving all of the passengers. Sully is starring one of my favorite actors Tom Hanks as Chelsey Sullenberger, and Aron Eckhart. If you are the kind of person that enjoys a historical movie and you love Tom Hanks then this is a movie you have to see. Sully is still in theaters, so go see it and enjoy the show. Number four in the box office this weekend is Bridget Jones Baby, making only $4.6 million this weekend. Bridget Jones Baby focuses on Bridget’s single life and her career. She is interrupted when she finds herself pregnant, but with one hitch: she can only be fifty percent sure of the identity of her baby’s father. Bridget Jones Baby is starring Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth, and Patrick Dempsey. This is a comedy and romantic film, so if you enjoy watching romantic comedies with the love of your life, then this is the movie to see this weekend. Last but not least number, 5 in the box office this weekend is Snowden. Making $4 million, it is based on a true story about The NSA’s surveillance techniques are leaked to the public by one of the agency’s employees, Edward Snowden. He leaked thousands of classified documents to the press. Snowden stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Shailene Woodley. This is a movie for all of the people who enjoy Joseph Gorden-Levitt movies and if you enjoy U.S. history. In conclusion, there are plenty of options for people with various tastes, so go have fun at the movie theater this weekend. Comments are closed.
