Andrew Bulieris Staff Writer Jan. 4, 2016 spells a very sad day for all Giants fans across the country as beloved coach Tom Coughlin has resigned leaving his legacy and two Lombardi Trophies behind. Almost every football fan could see this coming from the beginning of the season; changes were coming in the Giants organization. The team constantly melted down in the fourth quarter every other week due to terrible coaching calls, and the defense was all over the place all season, finishing in dead last in total defense. The offense could not produce points late in games either. The Giants as a whole completely shut down and blew the season away, throwing first place in the NFC East down the drain. As much as Giants fans were naïve to the fact that this was coming, they all hoped they could see that old man walk up and down the sidelines for one more season. But not everything works out the way it should, and that is the true reality of this situation. Kenison Garratt Editor-in-Chief and A&E Editor The New Year has begun, and 2016 is sure to bring a whole lot of excitement. Yet 2015 was a still great year, especially for literature. Here is a list of the top ten books of 2015. Andrew Bulieris Staff Writer Domestic violence has been a huge issue not only in sports, but in life in general we have seen many popular cases of domestic violence in past years relating to African American domestic violence cases with the police. This is a problem that all sports must crack down on. Examples of domestic violence in the NFL this year have been Greg Hardy’s debatable four-game suspension after photos surfaced of his ex-girlfriend badly bruised and beaten. There should be no place in the sport for any kind of domestic violence especially when a female is the victim. Another example of a terrible case of this was when video was released of Ray Rice, ex running back for the Baltimore Ravens, striking his fiancé in an elevator and knocking her unconscious. Rice was only suspended for two games and was reinstated after it but no team has yet to pick him up. Cameron Goz Sports Editor As 2015 has faded into its twilight, sports fans across the world are blessed with a bevy of moments to remember from the past year. From miraculous catches to thrilling finishes, there was no shortage of exhilarating feats performed before our very eyes. Only the elite of the elite have found their way onto this list.

Staff Writer The indecisiveness of wanting or not wanting a job comes more from the unwillingness to forfeit one’s free time rather than from a reluctance to make a profit. As a current full-time high school student and part-time retail employee, my decision to work was not a hard one. Prior to working, I had only seen the opportunity to work as one-sided, only thinking of the benefits that it would have on my shrinking bank account. I loathed to have some sort of income apart from my parents, but I had not considered the toll it would take on my already poor sense of time management. The majority of the students who have decided not to work have made the decision while contemplating the additional tolls that would be taken off of their availability on both the weekend and after school that would otherwise be used for studying and hanging out with friends. Overall, almost every student finds themselves in a different position when it comes to the matter of why or why not they would like to have a job. After surveying one hundred of Apex High’s students on their positions, their results were presented below. Jes Stiehm News Editor Fans of cult classic comedies will be happy to hear that the famed Mystery Science Theater 3000 has been slotted for revival in early 2016. Longtime fans have striven to promote the Kickstarter that had been started in November 2015, and in just under a month, they raised over $5 million dollars, breaking the Most Funded Project in Film & Video Kickstarter record. The achievement was enough to allow the show fourteen new episodes. Kenison Garratt Editor-in-Chief and A&E Editor The year of 2015 was an amazing one for gamers. Many well-known series had new installments, which ended up owning up to the franchise’s name. Such was the case with Assassin's Creed Syndicate and Rise of the Tomb Raider. However, players who decided to stray from the more popular chains were not disappointed. Selections like Dying Light and Harvest Moon: Story of Seasons were well-received by the gaming community. But there were some games which surpassed expectations. Here are the top ten video games of 2015. Andrew Bulieris Staff Writer In huge music news, the band Coldplay will headline the Super Bowl 50 halftime show, which came to a surprise for some people as it does not fit the typical mold of the usual mainstream artist. In other music news, the Grammy Nominees have been released, and some pretty big names in the music industry on the list are Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran, Kendrick Lamar, Nicki Minaj, Drake, J Cole, Kanye West, Ellie Goulding and Big Sean. Emily Sartin Staff Writer As soon as Thanksgiving is over, radio stations begin playing Christmas music nonstop. Within the multitude of Christmas classics, everyone has the songs they love and the ones they detest. A recent survey reveals what Apex students think about various Christmas songs and albums. Alyssa Hotchkiss Staff Writer The History Channel used to be filled with shows that would teach actual history. That is not the case anymore. Lately the History Channel has stretched the definition of history. Out of thirteen of their top shows, only five show any actual history. The rest is just shows that will get ratings higher. So far, History Channel has shown no interest in changing their name although it is not the only channel with a deceiving name. |
