Jacob Sosdian Staff Writer Are you a big fan of classic rock? Do you love classic rock bands such as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, or even The Rolling Stones? If you do, you are going to like what you hear. After over a decade The Rolling Stones are back to make a new album. The band announced on Thursday that they are coming out with a new album that will be released on Dec. 12. They are naming the new album Blue & Lonesome and that the album has twelve tracks that they recorded in three days at the British Grove Studios in West London. Co-producer Don Was said, "This album is manifest testament to the purity of their love for making music, and the blues is, for the Stones, the fountainhead of everything they do”. The iconic Rolling Stones logo is now blue. In 2005 they came out with an album called A Bigger Bang. Here is some background information for those of you “too young” to know who the Rolling Stones are. The Rolling Stones is a British band that formed in 1962. The members of the band are Mick Jagger, the lead singer and co-founder of The Rolling Stones; Keith Richards, the guitarist; Charlie Watts, the drummer; and Ronnie Wood, another guitarist. The founder and the original singer was Brian Jones, but in 1969 he was asked to leave the band because of his drug problems. Less than a month later, he drowned in a swimming pool. The Rolling Stones came out with many albums: twenty-six studio albums, twenty-two live albums, and twenty-nine compilation albums. Their first album was released in 1964 and was a big hit. According to TheTopTens.com's "Best Bands of the 1960s," The Rolling Stones is the number two band of the 1960s, while the number one band is The Beatles. You may have heard of some of their best most recognizable songs, “Paint it Black”, “Sympathy for the Devil,” “Gimme Shelter," and “Beast of Burden.” If you haven’t heard these songs, you should definitely check them out.
The Rolling Stones have rocked their way through the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. They are one of the greatest rock bands that have been playing music for decades. The band members may be getting old, but they are still going. Blue and Lonesome is coming out on Dec. 2, and I can’t wait. Comments are closed.
