Amanda Dybal Staff Writer The State Fair is a tradition for a lot of Americans in the United States. It is an occasion where friends and family go to enjoy games, rides, food, and each other; many people look forward to the shows, music, and fireworks. This year the North Carolina State Fair is full of old and new events. Opening on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 3p.m., the State Fair is a $10 admission fee which includes the Homegrown Music Festival. The festival includes 3 stages and 117 concerts consisting of Delta Rae with Katelyn Read, Super Chunk with Skylar Gudasz, a Johnny Cash Tribute, and more. This year the fair will have a few new foods. My favorites include the fried chicken and waffle kabobs, rocky road cupcakes, deep fried jello, and the man’s sandwich, which is a grilled cheese wrapped in bacon. At the end of every night (Oct. 13-23) the fair will be setting off fireworks at 9:45 p.m. Many of the students at Apex High School are looking forward to this coming week. Sophomore Rachael Mello says, “I go to the fair often but not every year. I love the game where you have to throw the ring on a bottle it is the only game I am good at. Once, I won three goldfish.” She says that although the fair is not her favorite, she tries to make it once a year.
Senior Sunday Peoples says she is truly a lover of the fair. She goes twice a year, once with her mom and again with her friends. “Last year, I rode the vortex with my friends, and I just got stuck; my seatbelt did not latch all the way and I was just holding on and the ride shut down while I was at the top,” Peoples says. “Also, all the food disgusts me, but I still eat all of it. I like all the fried veggies; they make me feel like I am healthy while eating fried food. I also love the water squirting game where you race all the other people to win the prize. I never lose.” Peoples loves every part of the fair and is very excited for this year’s. Try and make it out to the Fair this coming week. The State Fair has proven to be a thrilling experience time and time again. Comments are closed.
