Staff Writer
Subjects: Alternative Learning Center and In School Suspension
College: Dismuke initially graduated from Appalachian State University with a teaching degree and later attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University for an electrical engineering degree.
Prior to Apex High School: Dismuke has experience as an electrical engineer. In his most recent years, he worked as a kindergarten teacher where his students “absolutely loved him.” When asked which he prefers, engineering or teaching, Dismuke chose teaching. He prefers the availability and the ability to spend more time with his three children. Dismuke has lived in Cary, North Carolina for the past twenty years and is long-time friends with Mr. Gregg Thomas, a social studies teacher here at AHS.
Hobbies: Dismuke enjoys logical activities, including math, puzzles, and reading. He participated in football, wrestling, and baseball during his youth and high school career.
Favorite Books: The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis
Favorite Movies: The Harry Potter Series
Message for his students: “Get serious” and “prepare for doing something.” Dismuke wants his students to take their education seriously and use their resources to preferably graduate and create an optimistic future for their post high school career, whether or not that future includes further education.
