New Teacher: Mrs. Delaney Titus

College: Delaney Titus received both her BA in history with teaching concentration and her MA in Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary Social Studies from North Carolina State University (NCSU) after attending Appalachian State University (ASU) her freshman year.
Subjects: Civics and economics, both honors and academic. Next semester she will also be teaching world history.
Previous Teaching Experience: Last year Titus was a student teacher at Apex High under the supervision of Denise Wilke.
Favorite Restaurant: Mitch’s Tavern on Hillsboro Street
Family: She married her high school sweetheart Nathan Titus. They have two pet birds named Sampson and Snow.
Inspiration: “My dad wasn’t a teacher, but he worked with kids with special needs and helping them transition from school to a job. I was really inspired by that because a lot of times people look past those kids. He also coached sports, and I was always at a school somewhere.”
Passion for history: Titus recalls of her love of history in high school saying, “I took the AP (Advanced Placement) exam for every [AP] history [except AP European History] without actually taking the class. I couldn’t fit it in my schedule.”
Hobbies: She enjoys watching Netflix and playing with her birds. In college she enjoyed competing on a rugby team, but in high school she was in marching and concert band.
Guilty pleasure: “Watching terrible TV. Watching crappy MTV shows and crappy Bravo shows, that type of thing.”
