Meet Mrs. Webb

9/30/2016

Bryce Cullen and Patrick LaLiberte
Staff Writers

What is your name? Where are you originally from? What school did you go to… and degrees and such? I got my undergraduate and graduate, both from State. My Undergraduate is in psychology and my graduate in education.
Are you single or married? Married.
Do you have any kids or pets? One kid, expecting a second. No pets right now. I’m pretty excited to be having a boy; I have a girl right now.
What are thoughts about Apex so far? I really like Apex; it’s very laid back and the kids are awesome.
How does Apex compare to other schools? If you’ve been to any other? Yeah, it’s definitely… probably the most laid back which I like; y’all are really chill; the staff is really chill. It just makes coming here very enjoyable.
Any hobbies? Hobbies… I’m a dork; I sew, knit, and I bowl.
Do you have any pet peeves?
When people ask me stuff that I’ve already answered.
So what were you like as a student? I was a total dork, like in high school I was like, what… the AP classes the band nerd. I did band all four years; I was a total dork.
What advice would you give other students if you had the chance?
Just have fun in high school, college is coming, or anything after high school is coming, and just you know relax, enjoy yourself, it’ll all be good.
If you weren’t teaching, what career would you go through?
I’d probably be a secretary. I’m really into organizing. I’m telling you I’m a dork. I’d love to just sit there and organize all day.
Who has been an inspiration to you in your life? My mom had been in education for over thirty years, so I think hanging out with her definitely inspired me. She does elementary, so I learned not to work with little kids, because they’re crazy. And then probably my dad for his work ethic. My dad’s up super early and works super late.
What was your most memorable moment as a teacher?
A few years ago, I was able to do the Special Olympics with some of my kids. And just seeing them win awards was amazing. Like, how excited they get, you know. Because school can be pretty hard for everybody, but you know, these people who don’t succeed at sports and stuff, that was just awesome for them to win.
Do you have any favorite books and movies?
My favorite movie is Nightmare Before Christmas because I really like Halloween. And my favorite book is Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. It’s like a true story crime novel. They have a movie about it; it’s pretty good.
