The new animation movie Sing features major Hollywood stars like Matthew McConaughey, Scarlett Johansson, Reese Witherspoon, and Seth MacFarlane. The new movie not only includes voices of incredible actors but also of incredible singers like Jennifer Hudson and Tori Kelly. The main plot of the movie surrounds animals taking a part of a singing competition with the prize money of $100,000, but oblivious to the participants is that Buster Moon, director of the singing competition and a character played by McConaughey, is broke. If I had to describe this movie in one phrase it would be, a comedic, sentimental, and creative film all mushed into a perfect holiday musical.

When I watched this movie in the theaters, I was very tempted to start clapping and cheering on as if I were at a concert because of the amazing singers and songs features in this movie. Even in the theater, I could see people swaying and moving their heads to the music. It was very obvious that in creating of the movie, they spent a lot of time on the songs. There were incredible covers from Beyonce to Elton John. The movie was released December 21, and since then it has collected $147 million so far at the box office, so I would say that this movie was definitely a crowd pleaser. The creators of the movie are also from the creators of The Secret Life of Pets, Zootopia, and Despicable Me; they were said to have started working on this movie a little over five years ago.
Usually animated films like this one are more directed towards children rather adults, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it could be entertaining to all ages with its various musical numbers and sentimental touch. This film was definitely worth watching and promotes teamwork and perseverance which is an important quality that I think everybody needs to learn.
