Jessica Dorcelien Editor-in-Chief Ms. Haley Stallworth is this year’s new guidance counselor who handles students with the last name letters ‘Db-J’. Although new this year, Stallworth has some prior experience at both Apex High School and as a guidance counselor. From 2002 to 2003, she served as an intern under former counselor Ms.Harrington, and from 2003 to September of 2007, Stallworth was an official counselor. Stallworth then took some time off to raise her daughter, born in 2007, and then her son, born in 2009, before returning back to AHS. When asked to describe herself as a student, Stallworth recalled herself as being “conscientious and hardworking”. She had enjoyed the subjects of French and art the most, which ultimately led to her pursuit of an undergraduate degree in French and International studies. Stallworth later attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro to obtain a master's degree in counseling. Overall, Stallworth recalled her educational experiences to be enjoyable and encourages high school students to take advantage of their opportunities and resources, including the teachers and Career Development Center. Stallworth directly stated: “Make the most of it”.
Although the beginning of this school year has been hectic with schedule changes, Ms. Stallworth has still made time for the activities she enjoys like running, reading, catching up on Seinfeld reruns, and being outside with her kids. Comments are closed.
