McKenzie Feldman Staff Writer Looking for ways to spice things up this holiday season? The most wonderful time of the year is almost here, which means it is time to decorate. These festive pieces can help you dress up your room or even places around the house. Holiday decorating should not be stressful, so here are some fun, quick, and easy decorating ideas to get you in the holiday spirit. Bedrooms are where people most often spend their time, so adding warm and cozy elements can help a lot. The first thing you should do when decorating is decide a color scheme. For those of you who do not have neutral colored walls, it can be tricky to decorate. However, do not let that hold you back. There are still a plenty of ways to make your room joyful this season. When decorating, it is very easy to go overboard. Remember, less is more. You will notice that most of these decorations below add a lot to the space, despite being simple. Picking a color scheme: Being restricted to the classic Christmas colors can be overwhelming for people who have clashing room colors. Gold white, and silver go with almost every color, while also providing a clean and refreshing look. Another alternative is using your room color to your advantage. Sticking with golds, silvers, greys, and browns allows you to use different tones of color to make your wall stand out. Pillows and Throw Blankets: When you walk into a bedroom, one of the first things you see is your bed. Pillows and throw blankets are a great way to enhance your space. Target is great place to purchase these, but if you’re on a budget this season, there are plenty of DIY (do it yourself) projects you can tackle. Here is a great video on how to make your own decorated pillows. I also added another video to show other elements to add to your room. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yPYXRPDhpA (pillow video) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_zzfWDRKt4 (Various decorations video) Christmas tree: For those that celebrate Christmas, adding a tree to your room is a great decoration. Even though you may already have a Christmas tree in your living area, adding a smaller sized tree brings the whole room together. You can purchase smaller artificial trees almost anywhere. Christmas trees also allow you to add fun ornaments. If you dare to be bold, purchase a colored Christmas tree to match your wall color. Candles: Candles not only add color to your room, but they also add the wonderful scents of the holidays. Bath and Body Works is a great place for finding holiday candles. They have a lot of different scents, so you are sure to find one that you would like. Fun arrangements: One of my favorite decorations is a vase filled with various elements. You can purchase clear glass vases at almost any craft store. You can then find things such as pinecones, ornaments, branches, and twine balls to fill the vase. Not only can you repeat this for other occasions, but it is cheap, easy, and fast. This decoration can also be used around your home, not just for your room. Another idea is to put lights around your room. I have seen people put lights on their headboards, around the tops of their walls, and lying across their dressers. You can arrange them however you would like. Also, you could even keep the lights up year-round. That way you are not constantly putting them up and taking them down year after year. There are so many different ways to jazz up your room for the holidays; these are just some that I thought I would share. Happy Holidays! Comments are closed.
