Alyssa Hotchkiss Staff Writer The History Channel used to be filled with shows that would teach actual history. That is not the case anymore. Lately the History Channel has stretched the definition of history. Out of thirteen of their top shows, only five show any actual history. The rest is just shows that will get ratings higher. So far, History Channel has shown no interest in changing their name although it is not the only channel with a deceiving name. ABC Family also is not showing what their channel name promises. Several parental guardians have issues with the channel and advise them to change the name because a show about a hooker in Beverly Hills is just not family appropriate. For the New Year, ABC Family has changed their name to Freeform, a more appropriate name for the content showed on the channel. The president of ABC Family says "Freeform evokes the spirit and adventure of our audience" and "Freeform will deliver new, exciting original content as well as all the favorite shows our viewers already love on ABC Family." ABC Family encourages their audience to post pictures of them expressing freedom in honor of the upcoming name change this month.
