McKenzie Feldman Staff Writer After an exhausting season of hard work, stressful rehearsals, and memorable performances, Dancing with the Stars season 21 has come to a close. After a captivating two day, two-hour season finale, Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough took home the coveted Mirror Ball trophy. Runner up was Backstreet Boy Nick Carter along with his partner Sharna Burgess. Third place went to U.S. Army Ranger Alek Skarlatos. Throughout the season, Irwin took people’s breath away week after week. Irwin gained so much support and love for her bubbly and positive personality. She stole America’s heart, landing her a well-deserved win. When the season began on September 13, 2015, couples were in it to win it. This season’s cast consisted of a jockey, a chef, a vine star, singers, television stars, actors and actresses, an American hero, and, for the first time ever, a married couple. This season also welcomed back pros Karina Smirnoff, Anna Trebunskaya, and Louis van Amstel to the ballroom. In addition, Lindsay Arnold also returned after spending the last four seasons in the troupe. Peta Murgatroyd was to be paired with Andy Grammer originally but was sidelined by a leg injury. One by one teams were voted off, two being disqualified for medical reasons. Also fans can get excited for season 22, which will air March 21, 2016. The British Judge, Len Goodman, announced himself that he will be returning to the ballroom. Even with his tough and bitter personality, America loves Len and cannot wait to see his face again. Overall, season 21 consisted of fun theme nights, sad goodbyes, and unforgettable performances. Here is to season 22! Comments are closed.
